We are thrilled to announce the selection of Prof. Alexandre Anesio (University of Bristol) as this year's Distinguished Lecturer. Alexandre Anesio’s research interests are broad and combine concepts from Geography, Biology and Chemistry to understand carbon cycle in the cryosphere.
The Distinguished Lecture Program continues to support institutions in Central and Eastern Europe therefore if interested, those are most welcome to invite Alexandre Anesio to present one or two lectures. More details at www.eag.eu.com/outreach/dlp.
If you are going to EGU 2016 in Vienna next week, you will be able to meet EAG at booth 54 (Entrance Hall). There will be some 'goodies' and special offers for those signing up for membership.
Also note EAG co-organises several geochemistry related sessions:
'The Enigmatic Relationship Between Silicic Plutonic and Volcanic Rocks' is Elements latest issue, exploring the rich set of observations from petrology, geochronology, thermal modeling, geophysical techniques, and geochemistry used to study the silicic volcanic-plutonic relationship. Finding a consistent explanation for the silicic volcanic–plutonic relationship bears on important Earth science questions, including, “How is silicic continental crust formed?” and, “Can we predict supereruptions?”
EAG members will receive their print copy shortly and have online access to all back issues of Elements (user id = email address, password = EAG membership number). To find your membership number, login to your member area.
We would like to remind you of the new database on the EAG website which serves as a resource for geochemistry related bachelor, master, and PhD programs, as well as short courses and small bursaries for early career scientists.
We also welcome information to be added to the database, so please email it to the EAG Office at office@eag.eu.com.
The EAG Student Sponsorship Program sponsors 12 students each year, up to 500 Euros per student, to attend geochemistry related short courses, summer schools, workshops or conferences located in Europe (except for the Goldschmidt conference). The next application deadline is 1 May. Find out more.
