We are happy to report a participation rate of 37% at the recent council elections, an excellent indicator of the vitality of the geochemical community. We thank EAG members for participating at these elections and are particularly grateful to all the candidates who agreed to stand.
Donald E. Canfield, Kirsten Küsel and Helen Williams have been elected and will join the EAG Council from January 2016. We wish all our newly elected councillors a warm welcome.
With the goal of promoting geochemistry, EAG proudly co-organises several geochemistry related sessions presented at the EGU General Assembly 2016 (Vienna, 17-22 April). Please consider submitting an abstract (deadline: 13 January).
We thank all who participated in the EAG Photo Contest. The jury has now selected the best 5 photos in each theme and we now invite you to vote for your favourite photos. The winner of each theme will receive a 5-year EAG membership and will see their photo on the banner of this newsletter and on the EAG website.
EAG is delighted to report signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Association of GeoChemistry (IAGC). IAGC members now enjoy the same terms and conditions for registering at European Goldschmidt conferences as EAG members. EAG members in turn now receive member registration rates when attending any IAGC organised events, including Water Rock Interaction 15 (Évora, Portugal; 16-21 October 2016).
The EAG Student Sponsorship Program sponsors 10 students each year, up to 500 Euros per student, to attend geochemistry related short courses, summer schools, workshops or conferences located in Europe (except for the Goldschmidt conference). The next application deadline is 1 December. Find out more.
EAG endeavours to offer a comprehensive set of membership benefits, including reduced rates at Goldschmidt conferences, print and online issues of Elements, Geochemical Perspectives, Geochemical Perspectives Letters, student sponsorship and much more. Rates are unchanged for 2016: 25 Euros for professionals or 100 Euros for 5 years | 15 Euros for students or 35 Euros for 3 years. Find out more or join.
