Role of the DEI Committee:

Working collaboratively, the EAG and Geochemical Society DEI committees discuss, formulate, and enact changes to enhance diversity, inclusivity, and equity across varied Society activities. For example, by providing guidance advocating for an inclusive and accessible annual Goldschmidt conference, and suggesting ways to improve Award procedures. Recommendations by the DEI committees are reviewed by the EAG Council and the GS Board.

Additionally, the EAG DEI committee supports a Twitter account (@EAG_DEI) and provides DEI-related contributions to the EAG Blog. The committee also led the first Global Geochemistry Community Survey, in 2022.

The EAG DEI Committee is composed of two Co-Chairs, one of which is a serving member of EAG Council, and further representatives from among EAG members. The Committee also has representatives on several other EAG Committees, including the Council Nominations Committee, Awards Nominations Committee, Ethics Committee, and EAG Strategy Working Group. This representation raises the profile of DEI concerns across the spectrum of EAG activities.

The subject area differs from year to year therefore the Science Innovation Award Committee is renewed every year.
